Moses’ Final Apology and Commitment
Moses, who had been unable to keep his promise until now, apologized to Khiḍr for the last time and pledged that if he questioned again, Khiḍr would have the right not to accept him as a companion and to end their association, for Khiḍr’s acceptance of his excuses had reached its limit and the grounds for ending their companionship were complete, and he would be justified in refusing to accompany Moses: “If I ask you about anything after this, then do not keep me as a companion. You have obtained from me an excuse.”
