The Language of the Qur'an

The Qur'an is a beacon of guidance for humanity across all places and epochs. Its illumination extends to every corner of the earth, encompassing every period in human history. The luminosity of Qur'anic guidance transcends the confines of humanity, as stated:

And it is not but a reminder to the people (74:31),

And it is not but a reminder to the worlds (68:52).

This divine scripture is timeless and universal, not confined to any specific era, locality, or race.

Allah, the Almighty, delineates the scope of the Prophet Muhammad's (s.a.w.) mission with clarity:

We did not send you except as a bearer of good news and a warner to all mankind. (34:28)

Hence, the mission of the Prophet (s.a.w.) is universal and perpetual. His scripture is global and enduring. His audience encompasses all of humanity, not merely a particular community from Hijaz in the Arabian Peninsula. The ambit of the Prophet's (s.a.w.) message encompasses the entire world and all of humanity, as evidenced by:

Blessed is He who sent down the Criterion to His servant that he may be a warner to all the worlds. [al-ʿālamīn] (25:1)

A warner to mankind (74:36)

For a book to serve as a universal guide, it must embody two essential qualities:

  1. Universal Language:

It should articulate a language that resonates with all of humanity, enabling every individual to glean its wisdom. The barrier of language and cultural unfamiliarity should not deter anyone from pursuing the path of human prosperity and happiness it outlines.

  2. Universal Content:

Its teachings must be universally applicable and beneficial, akin to water's necessity for all forms of life. It should be deemed indispensable for any creature, in any era, and in any place.

By adhering to these principles, the Qur'an establishes itself not just as a scripture for a particular group or time, but as a timeless and borderless guide for the entirety of mankind.
