Harmony of Verses

In the preceding verses, it was established that Adam was created to reside on earth, and the earth, along with the broader material and natural world, became the dwelling place for the growth, development, and perfection of this vicegerent. However, the earth and the material world possess unique characteristics and effects. Entering this realm without prior training and preparation—without undergoing a preliminary stage that familiarizes Adam with his needs, weaknesses, and identifies his enemies and allies—would be impossible or highly challenging. Therefore, this verse and the subsequent verses highlight this preparatory and educational stage.

Additionally, these verses serve as a consolation for the Noble Messenger (s.a.w.), assuring him not to be troubled by the disbelief, hypocrisy, and the obstructions posed by disbelievers and hypocrites. These verses demonstrate that the inclination towards disobedience is inherent in human nature from the very beginning of creation, and God’s way remains unchangeable.

Moreover, these verses aim to clarify the situational effects of disobedience, including misery, suffering, descent, and downfall. However, upon accepting repentance, the obligatory consequences and otherworldly punishments (in the case of mawlawī disobedience), along with some situational effects, are alleviated.

This verse can be divided into two parts: the first part includes the command to dwell and benefit in Paradise, and the second part contains God’s advisory prohibition.
