Harmony of the Verses

After Satan’s misguidance, which led to Adam’s descent to the earth, Adam (a.s.) realized his error and acknowledged that he had wronged himself and suffered a significant loss, as expressed in the verse: “They said, ‘Our Lord, we have wronged ourselves, and if You do not forgive us and have mercy upon us, we will surely be among the losers.’” Recognizing his mistake, Adam sought to make amends. Even if it was not possible to return to that joyful abode in this world, he hoped at least to return to his original home after transitioning from this dark and delusional realm.

The verse under discussion emphasizes how Adam sought to rectify his error. It explains that after his descent to the earth, Adam received specific words for repentance and turning back to his Lord. With these words, he repented before God, who accepted his repentance, for He is the Acceptor of Repentance, the Merciful.
