The Harmony of the Verses
After the divine prohibition on benefiting from the forbidden tree, Satan entered the scene and, through his temptation, caused Adam and Eve to slip, paving the way for their expulsion from the status they once held. As a consequence, they were addressed: Now that you have fallen, you are no longer worthy of remaining in Paradise. Descend to the earth, transitioning from the serene environment and comfort of Paradise, free from pain and hardship, to a place of toil, conflict, and enmity for a temporary period.
In the first part of the verse, it highlights Satan’s role in tempting them, leading to their slip and consequent expulsion from their elevated position and status. It states: Eventually, Satan caused them both to slip and expelled them from the state they were in.
The second part of the verse continues: After their slip and fall from the state they enjoyed, We said to them: Descend! You are enemies to one another, and the earth will be your dwelling place with provisions for a time.
