The Acceptance of the Vow or the Object of the Vow

There are two possibilities in “Accept it from me”: 1. Request for acceptance of the child (the object of the vow); 2. Request for acceptance of the vow. However, the phrase “and her Lord accepted her with a gracious acceptance”(12) indicates that what is meant is the object of the vow, not the vow, although the acceptance of the child would be accompanied by the acceptance of the vow. If only the acceptance of the vow were meant, it would not indicate that the essence of the object of the vow was also accepted by God, for God accepts many deeds: “God accepts only from the Godwary”,(13) but few are the godwary whose essential nature is accepted by God.

The essential nature is accepted when they elevate themselves from the stage of “do righteous deeds”(14) and join the lofty station of the righteous ones, just as He said about Abraham (a.s.): “We certainly chose him in the [present] world, and in the Hereafter he will indeed be among the Righteous”.(15)
