When it was established that the Disciples had noble intentions in requesting that a table be sent down for them, Jesus corrected their request, which had several defects, and then requested it from God: Jesus enumerated the purpose of the descent of the heavenly table as the day of the table’s descent being a festival (ʿīd) for contemporary people and future generations; he also requested that it be a sign of divine power, and at the end he requested sustenance from God and praised Him with the attribute “the best of providers” (khayr al-rāziqīn).
