The Prophet’s Supervision in Implementing God’s Command

The duty of the prophet, beyond conveying God’s command, is supervision in its implementation and also comprehensive knowledge of the acceptance and rejection by the community. For this reason, Jesus the Messiah, by mentioning the attribute of watcher (raqīb) for God: “You Yourself were watchful over them” (kunta anta al-raqīb ʿalayhim), implicitly declared his own prophetic mission (risāla) in supervision (riqāba).

Note: The prophets spoke with rational courtesy (adab ʿaqlī), just as Jesus, where he speaks of creation and Creator, out of courtesy gives precedence to God over creation: “You Yourself were watchful over them” (kunta anta al-raqīb ʿalayhim).
