Coherence of the Verses

In the previous verse, God, through both affirmative and negative statements, declared the Prophet (s.a.w.) to be completely truthful, thereby consoling him and encouraging him to argue with the Christian delegation from Najrān. In this verse, relating to the same story, while affirming the Prophet’s (s.a.w.) victory, He commanded him to invite them to mutual imprecation (mubāhala).
