They are deluded (yuʾfakūn): “Ifk” means to transform and turn something away from its proper and appropriate form, which is why it is applied to falsehood, because it has been turned away from truth and reality; likewise, this word is applied to winds that have been diverted from their course, to cities that have been destroyed, and to intellect that has been diverted from its perfection.(89)
