Relationship Between Verses

Sūrat al-Māʾida has, in addition to common discussion about the People of the Book (ahl al-kitāb), separate discussions specifically about Jews, Christians, and Muslims, and this verse is the heading of discussions specifically about Christians.

The content of the previous verse was the refutation of some beliefs of the Jews. This verse establishes some suppositions of Christians regarding the divinity of Jesus.(2)
