The Path to Receiving Sustenance “Without Reckoning”
Commitment to the sanctuary of worship in terms of essence, attributes, and action, which is the complete God-consciousness included in the verse “Be wary of God with the wariness due to Him”(82) and exemplified in the verse “So be wary of God as much as you can”,(83) brings with it sustenance “without reckoning” and corresponds to the verse “And whoever is wary of God, He shall make a way out for him and provide for him from whence he does not reckon”.(84) Considering that sustenance includes both food and drink as well as sciences and knowledge, and that intellectual sustenance includes both acquired and immediate knowledge, the essence of the exegetical points of this section of verses provides Qur’anic support for traditions that consider the eruption of springs of wisdom as the product of forty days of sincerity: “No servant is sincere to God for forty mornings except that springs of wisdom flow from his heart to his tongue”.(85)
The proof of these matters in terms of external examples is the sanctuary-centered thinking and sanctuary-focused life of Mary (a.s.), whom God made an example for believing people (not specifically for women or specifically for men), saying: “God draws an example for those who have faith: the wife of Pharaoh… And Mary, daughter of Imran”.(86) Her being a model for the most distinguished among the faithful is appropriate to their level, and for the middle ranks of believers, it is suitable to their station.
