Vocabulary

Bashar (“human”): Bashara is the outer skin and adama is its inner layer. Bashar means human, and humans are called this because their skin is visible, unlike animals that are covered with hair, wool, and fur. In the Qur’an, wherever there is attention to the physical form and outer appearance of humans, the term bashar is used. The disbelievers who denied the prophets said: “You are nothing but humans like us”.(338) Yes, they were equal to others in their humanity: “I am just a human being like you”,(339) but they were superior in their lofty knowledge and beautiful deeds.(340)

Kadhālik (“likewise”): The letter kāf is for address, and dhā refers to the present situation, and the address is directed to Mary (a.s.); meaning that you will certainly become a mother.
