Vocabulary

The difference between verification (taṣdīq) and imitation (taqlīd) is that verification is a type of knowledge, as knowledge is either conception or verification. However, imitation, although accompanied by a general awareness of the basic matter, does not establish the truthfulness of the subject based on evidence, but rather relies solely on trust in the statement of the one being imitated.
