Selected Exegesis
In response to the plotting and decision of Jesus’s people to kill him (a.s.), God’s subtle plan and good decree was to take his soul and raise him up to Himself.
From this verse, the situation of his holiness regarding life and death is not clear, because taking (tawaffī) does not specifically mean death, but rather means taking and receiving the soul completely and fully, whether in the form of death or sleep. Of course, based on other verses, his holiness was neither killed nor crucified, but rather God raised him while he was alive and he ascended alive towards God, and through this positional and spiritual elevation, a special blessing was bestowed upon him. Therefore, just as the beginning of his birth and period of life was mixed with miracles, his continuation and passing (tawaffī) were also accompanied by miracles.
God saved Jesus the Messiah (a.s.) from the society contaminated with disbelief and from the harm and plots of the Israeli disbelievers who were polluted with the filth and punishment of polytheism.
The divine tradition until the Day of Resurrection is the cultural, political, and social superiority along with the morality and belief of the true followers of the Messiah (a.s.) and those who believe in and have faith in his prophethood and messengership, and those who affirm his truthfulness; like the disciples and also Muslims who believe in his messengership and infallibility; not Christians who submitted to the trinity. Of course, this victory and superiority is contingent upon complete and perfect following.
The reference point for all human actions in this world and the hereafter is God. His authority is absolute, not specific to the resurrection, although its manifestation is in the hereafter. This return is universal and perpetual, and He is the reference point for humans at every moment.
Disagreement after knowledge, which results in some choosing the path of faith and others preferring the path of disbelief, is condemned and considered oppression, and it will be addressed in the divine court of justice.
