“Would never disdain” (lan yastankif): “Yastankif” refers to distancing oneself out of “disdain” (taʾannuf). “Disdain” (istinkāf) from worship is a state in which a person withdraws from servitude to God and is indifferent to it, not out of arrogance but due to disdain. The reason that “arrogance” (istikbār) is not included in the concept of “disdain” (istinkāf) is its separate mention in the above verse and the following verse.(131)
