Harmony of the Verses
From this verse to the end of the chapter, all are connected to the purpose of the chapter, which is the call to fulfill covenants and give thanks for blessings, and to warn against covenant-breaking and ingratitude. Therefore, the content of the final verses of the chapter returns to the meaning of its beginning, and the unity of the intended meaning is preserved.(156)
Regarding the connection of this verse with the preceding verse, some have said: Since God’s question to the prophets in the previous verse - “How were you answered by your communities?” - contained a rebuke of the followers of falsehood, and the most deserving communities for rebuke were the Christians, because their rebellion reached the level of God’s majesty, as they considered Jesus and his mother to be God, therefore God in these two verses enumerates the blessings and miracles that He gave to that personage so that it becomes clear that all of them indicate that he was a servant, not God.(157)
