The Difference Again Between Jesus’s Words and Abraham’s Prayer

The Day of Judgment is the context for the manifestation of the wise might of the One, Dominant God. Direct address (mushāfaha) with God in the context of such a powerful manifestation is different from supplicatory conversation (mukālama) with Him in this world. Therefore, there is a difference between the prayer of Abraham (a.s.) in this world with God - who in the language of intercession sought forgiveness for sinners: “My Lord! Indeed they have misled many people. So whoever follows me indeed belongs to me, and as for someone who disobeys me, well, You are indeed all-forgiving, all-merciful” (359) - and the direct dialogue and conversation of Jesus (a.s.) in the Hereafter - which the verse under discussion recounts. What befits the presence of God’s mighty presence is confession, humility, seeking refuge on the part of the servant, and clarification of the lordship, might, and wisdom in relation to the Lord of the system of creation, namely God.
