The Meaning of the Truthful Ones’ Pleasure with God
The pleasure of the truthful ones (ṣādiqīn) with God in this world is that they are pleased with all the principles and branches of His commands and are truthfully believers in the principles, truthfully characterized by beautiful attributes, truthfully performers of good deeds, and truthfully free from their opposites. Their pleasure with God in the Hereafter is that not only have they attained all the divine promises, but they have also received two superior blessings: one is that whatever they wish and falls within the scope of their will is provided for them, and the other is that some of the afterlife blessings are with God that are beyond the realm of their desires, because their knowledge is limited and desires are according to the measure of knowledge. For this reason, if someone does not know, recognize, see, or hear of a perfection or blessing, they will never wish for or request it, while God says: “There they will have whatever they wish, and with Us there is yet more.”(391) This means that for the special people of Paradise, two things are separate: one is that whatever they wish is obtained, indeed present, and the other is that beyond their desires also exists.
