The Meaning of Those Who Stay for Worship

The term “ʿākifīn” in the context of Surah Al-Hajj, verse 22:26, refers to those who remain in the Sacred Mosque (Masjid al-Haram) for the purpose of worship. This includes those who are engaged in iʿtikāf, a state of spiritual retreat, where individuals seclude themselves in the mosque for dedicated worship, reflection, and devotion.
