Coherence of Verses

Given that the previous verse mentioned the testament of Abraham and Jacob, this verse provides an explanation and elaboration on Jacob’s testament and the nature of his dialogue with his children.

The repetition of Jacob’s testament in particular, and its emphasis and reaffirmation in the form of a question and answer exchange between Jacob and his children, serves as a renewed conclusive argument against the People of the Book who consider themselves descendants of Jacob (Israel). This is especially directed at the Jews who claim that the religion chosen by Jacob and his children was Judaism, with all its deviation and divergence from monotheism, despite the fact that Jacob and his children (the tribes) followed no path other than monotheism, Islam, and pure worship.
