Differences in Levels of Submission

What has been stated about Abraham’s (a.s.) attainment of complete Islam and submission towards the end of his life does not contradict his being Muslim and submissive throughout his blessed life. This is because there are different degrees of submission. Based on this, it is possible that some verses about the submission of that noble figure do not refer to his complete submission, but rather to the early or middle stages of his instructive life journey. In other words, at the beginning or middle of his mission, when he had not yet reached full maturity and growth, God Almighty commanded him to submit to Islam. After that, he attained each level that he was now commanded to achieve and had not been commanded to before, until he finally reached the pinnacle of submission.
