Selected Exegesis

Abraham and Ishmael, seeking to save their children from the fate of Noah’s unrighteous son and following a worthy tradition_—praying for children and descendants at appropriate times and critical moments—_requested several things from God Almighty during and after the reconstruction and renovation of the Kaaba:

The complete stage of Islam; that is, the position of absolute and total submission and obedience for themselves, their children, and their descendants.

The quality of devotional use of the Kaaba and its associated boundaries, so that they would become aware of how to worship there. Therefore, the rites of Hajj were shown to them.

The return of divine grace and the continuation of the Lord’s favor upon them.
