The Religion of the Abrahamic Prophets

The religion and faith of Abraham is the religion of all Abrahamic prophets, as Joseph said: “And I have followed the religion of my fathers, Abraham and Isaac and Jacob”(203). God Almighty commanded the Noble Prophet to follow this common faith: “Then We revealed to you, [O Muhammad], to follow the religion of Abraham, inclining toward truth”(204). If someone accepts the fundamental religion of a prophet, they will certainly accept its details as well, unless some of its branches have changed with the emergence of a new law.

The religion of Abraham is trusted by Christians, Jews, and other monotheists. If they respect that faith, they should make it the basis and measure of their beliefs, ethics, and actions, and accept Islam based on it, because Islam possesses all the advantages of Abraham’s religion in a more complete manner. Therefore, if someone distances themselves from it, they have made themselves foolish: “And who would be averse to the religion of Abraham except one who makes a fool of himself.” God Almighty, by this criterion, considers the Jews and Christians and their like to be foolish, for Abraham, just as he was not an idolater or pagan, was also not a Jew or Christian: “Abraham was neither a Jew nor a Christian, but he was one inclining toward truth, a Muslim”(205).
