Discussion of the Narrations

The Prime Example in Recommending Islam and Its Complete Obedience

Jābir narrated from Abū Jaʿfar (a.s.) that he said: I asked him about the exegesis of this verse from God’s words: “When he said to his sons, ‘What will you worship after me?’ They said, ‘We will worship your God and the God of your fathers, Abraham and Ishmael and Isaac_—_one God.’” He said: “It applies to the Qāʾim.”(385)

Allusion: Perhaps the meaning of the tradition is that the perfect infallible human, of whom the Walī al-ʿAṣr is a clear example, always has and continues to have such a recommendation for the purpose of reviving monotheism and spreading the pure effects of Islam, just as they themselves fully comply with the recommendations of previous prophets.
